WEBBCo is the first Southern Hemisphere company to move high performance electric passenger ferries from the drawing board to the water. Cutting edge technological approaches in composite structures, naval architecture and electrification have been brought together for the first time, creating a unique answer to the question of zero emission marine transportation.
WEBBCo works with experts who use a design-thinking approach to solve highly complex problems. Many of the problems we come across in our projects are dynamic and multi-faceted. It takes creativity, a willingness to consider all perspectives, and the desire to work through iterations to succeed.

The WEBBCo Team
Jeremy Ward, CEO of East by West Ferries, made the ambitious decision in 2018 to commission the first fully electric ferry in the Southern Hemisphere. This led to the establishment of Wellington Electric Boat Building Company.
At WEBBCo we have a core team of dedicated composite boat builders and production and design coordination managers, working towards the shared vision of Jeremy Ward and Fraser Foote, Managing Director.

Fraser has built over forty vessels of varying types and sizes as a composite builder, project manager and owner for 20 years of Northland Contract Boat Builders Ltd. He has extensive experience in all aspects of composite construction, boat repairs, refits and insurance work. He has also worked under contract to the BMW Oracle America’s Cup Team.

Jeremy Ward is the founder of East by West Ferries, a ferry operation that has carried commuters and tourists across the Wellington Harbour since 1989. Jeremy has an extensive background in research and development and operation of tourism and transport related businesses, including interisland ferry services, cable cars and trams. A committee member of the New Zealand Marine Transport Association, he is also a member of the wider maritime sector reference group, The NZ Maritime Forum.
